SOME FACTS ABOUT INCIDENT RESPONSE EQUIPMENT

  • 09/07/2025 – The Vietnam Environment Incident Response Center (SOS Center) has responded to over 200 chemical spills (by 2024) in Vietnam with various difficulties and circumstances. SOS Center has a nationwide network of more than 100 response stations equipped with specialized response equipment, material, roadway and waterway vehicles, and professional responders.

Also, the SOS Center currently produces over 120 specialized pieces of equipment and materials, designed in-house for incident response and environmental restoration, and supplies for responders nationwide. The SOS Center is a special organization that combines rich practical experience in response activities with the production of equipment and materials after R&D based on practical experience, including: Frequent oil-chemical spill response (requested via hotline 1800.6558); Recognize the limitations of equipment and materials in practice; Continuously improve products to meet practical needs; Try improved equipment and materials in practical response activities; and Mass production after successfull application.

There are some oil-chemical spill response equipment and materials situations that the SOS center deals with, such as: Oil containment boom, oil filtering containment boom, oil-chemical skimmer system,….

  • For Oil containment boom: Proactive prevention and containment of oil spills wherever they happen: Form swampland, fields, water ditches, pools, lakes, wharves, bays, rivers, inland water ways, ports, shorelines, to offshore.
  • For Oil filtering containment boom: Dual-purpose boom: To contain floating spilled oil (as all regular oil containment booms); to filter and contain oil particles submerged, dispersed in water due to waves, currents, wind, or weathering (but allowing water to come through quickly). It’s a unique solution for treating daily oil pollution, such as oil/fuel leaks from petroleum terminals, petrol stations, factories, industrial parks,… following down drains into lakes, rivers,… and for prevention and proactive response to oil spills 24/7.
  • With Permanent oil containment boom: This is an extremely durable boom that is permanently installed at ports to prevent oil spills during loading/ unloading proactively. The product’s life span is up to 10 -15 years for permanent deployment on water.
  • Oil-chemical skimmer system: A compact, lightweight, oil-chemical resistant multi-purpose skimmer system: To skim spilled oil floating on the water surface; To vacuum liquids on hard surfaces, in drainage, sewers; To wash with high – pressure water spray; It is suitable for all facilities with potential oil/ chemical spill incident risks, such as oil terminal, petrol stations, construction projects, chemical warehouses, hazardous waste treatment facilities,…
  • Open-top temporary storage tank: An open-top rank is a portable, self-erecting reservoir for temporary storage of all types of liquids, suitable for numerous applications: Oli/ chemical emergency response, various industrial and civil uses.
  • For Floating temporary storage tank: This tank is specifically used to temporarily store oil/chemicals recovered from offshore oil/ chemical spill response activities. It can be easily towed by boats/ canoes. The tank overcomes the unfeasible technical solution of mobilizing ships, barges,.. to the incident site to store oil/chemicals.
  • Oil filtering fabric: An ideal material for filtering and containing oil particles submerged, dispersed in water, but allowing water to come through quickly even at high currents, for daily control of oil- contaminated water, for proactive protection of coastlines, aquaculture fields, sensitive areas,…
  • Mobile oil filtering module: This module can quickly filter oil from a large amount of oil-contaminated water generated from on site oil spill response activities. It is a solution to overcome difficulties in transporting large volumes of oily water from the incident site to the treatment site and significantly reduce treatment costs.
  • Bio HAZO Oil absorbent – bioremediation agent: A dual-purpose agent: To absorb hydrocarbon liquids, encapsulate it without leaching back to the environment; To biodegrade encapsulated hydrocarbons by “oil-eating” microorganisms, converting toxic substances into carbon dioxide and water. For on-site treatment of oil-contaminated sand, soil, rocks, river banks, beaches,…
  • HAZO deodorizer: A product of encapsulator technology with main functions: Eliminating odors, gases, smoke, toxic vapors; Cleaning fine dust and toxic chemicals on surface,… It is commonly used to response to incidents involving toxic gases caused by fire or chemical spills.
  • With C-PEC encapsulator agent: C-PEC is a specialized solution for cleaning oil spills on the surface and underground, treating oil-contaminated soil and groundwater when combined with Bio- HAZO (Key features: Fuel encapsulation and neutralization, Rapid heat reduction, Fire suppression, Eco-friendly).
  • Last but not least, Nano oil -chemical absorbent materials: These absorbent materials are manufactured by advanced nano melt-blown technology with microscopic nano-sized fibers, thus having an outstanding ability to absorb and retain liquids. Products are designed in various shapes and sizes, suitable for many different applications.
